Tap Dancing Spanish Style

The famous dance of Spain. On Tuesday night, we went to see a flamenco performance at La Casa de la Memoria. Of course, Ariel and I managed to confuse the meeting time. So we ended up super speed walking to catch up to the group that left from the school. Thanks to live direction feed via BBM we caught up. Well, they were already there, but we made it in time.
It started off with the "vocalist" and the guitarist. The guitar music was super fast. It kind of had an improv feel to it. So then the vocalist starts singing. There's a lot of foot stomping and clapping going on. Not from the audience. It's part of the performance. After the first song, the female dancer comes out to dance to the next song. I think the closest thing I could describe flamenco as is extreme tap dancing. Except with a lot of hip and body movements. There were also a lot of hand motions and facial expressions. Ariel thinks there's a lot of passion  involved. It's a very expressive dance. Anyway, the vocalist and guitarist provide some background taps and stomps.
Continuing... the male dancer did his thing.  During both of the dances, the vocalist was adding his "background tapping," basically slamming his heels super hard. All in all, it was pretty cool stuff. There's definitely a lot of emotion that goes into the dancing. If I could understand the words, it might've helped understand the dances. The atmosphere was really neat though. It was a tiny courtyard with a vine climbing up the wall and some lanterns. The chairs were set up in a U-shape around the stage for an intimate feel. We were allowed to take photos only during the last song.

On our way home, we stopped for tapas on a street near our house. We walk to school that way and there's always people there- good sign.
