Columbus discovered America

9am on a Saturday in Sevilla- it's pretty quiet. The night got a bit chilly so the morning is nice and cool. There are very few people out. Many of the shops are still closed. We passed at least three Starbucks and one Dunkin' Donuts. We're have an outing today, ran into some lost students trying to find the meeting place.
La Monasterio de Santa Maria de la Rabida (in mudejar style)- Columbus came here to make connections to finance his voyage. It was a Franciscan monastery, but now there are only five monks who do not live in the main buildings. Before that, it was used by the Muslims. There are copies of various documents relating to the Americas. Columbus actually had numerous signatures, not just one. This was pretty cool- there's a room with a box of soil from different countries in the Americas, along with their flags. There are huge paintings depicting various parts of the life of St. Francis and Columbus throughout the monastery.
Muella de las Carabelas- replicas of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. Those floors or decks or whatever you call them were not flat. No wonder people fell overboard.
Last but not least- la playa de Mazagon! There's no way to avoid a tan :)
